I've been getting lots of mixed information from different folks on the "ideal" virtualized Microsoft SQL Server builds. I find that many of the best practices guides are still rooted in the traditional physical builds and I would love to know what some realistic mid-sized MSSQL Server VMware VM builds folks are using out in the wild.
I typically separate my OS, logs, DBs, and TempDB to different virtual controllers. I also use eager-zeroed thick for the virtual disks and they are on paravirtual controllers for higher performance. Any other suggestions?
